Russell's nomination put an official seal on the news that there was a new, youthful force in comedy. After earning his spurs in Edinburgh, Russell also cut his teeth in the highly competitive arena that is BBC 2's panel show Mock the Week and was given his own show, Russell Howard's Good News in 2009. Meanwhile Russell has played and sold out venues like the Hammersmith Apollo, Wembley Arena and will play London's 02 in 2011.
