For someone who said that their first comedy booking was almost accidental there was nothing random about the rise of Fanshawe's stock post-Perrier. His career emphasis after this point was as a writer and broadcaster and he has been a frequent contributor to national media as well an effective campaigner on both a national level (he was a founder member of Stonewall) and in his home of Brighton.
